Lauren + Kyle = Married!

Every wedding I learn something new and this time...."CHECK YOUR SETTINGS!" I was going through batteries every hour and running out. I was finally on my last one and just couldn't figure out why they were all dying so quickly! Needless to say I was in panic mode. I switched cameras to my backup and used my last battery during the reception. I was able to capture every important moment perfectly. Whew!!! Later I found that my primary camera was on "bracket" mode, so basically it was taking three photos for each one I snapped. Thus, using triple the battery power...and eating up every one. Luckily I carry about 7 batteries, three cameras, 6 memory cards, and three flashes for backups. I've NEVER had a close call like this one and thankfully Lauren and Kyle never knew it.... don't tell....... ;)

Thanks for booking!

I got to meet with two absolutely gorgeous and sweet brides-to-be to book their weddings. Heather is having her wedding at Northside Baptist Church in Dallas, and Koni is having her's at Narroway Baptist Church and the reception will be at RoseHall Event Center in Dallas. I'm so excited about both weddings because I just love working with awesome girls like them! Thanks!

Who's idea was it to shoot at 9am! Brrrrr!

Okay! It was my idea, but I had a wedding that day and it was the only time we could schedule it in! A little bit of whimpering and a few runny noses, me and the grown ups were ready to shoot. Oh, and the kids did great too! Ha! ;) Next time, let's shoot for 4p in May!!!

Monique

I was lucky enough to book Moniqe and Jadrian's wedding at Fanti Events in May. We had a lot of fun at Piedmont Park on what I believe was the prettiest day of the year so far. We're talking 60 degrees....the day before the big snow! Way to pick 'em Monique!

Through rain or snow, sleet or hail, they carry the mail and will not fail.

We're snowed in, but the mail carrier braved the weather to deliver Paige's wedding contract! Thanks for booking Paige!
I also recieved Danielle's contract over the weekend too. I'm so excited about all the weddings I have booked in 2010!

2010 Booking!

This year has booked up at an amazing rate! I already have more weddings booked than last year and only have 3 dates left available through October. November and December are pretty open except for a couple of dates. And, I'm starting to book for Spring of 2011, so please get your dates booked quickly so you don't loose them!

Album design.

Album design is one of the things, other than editing, that really takes up a lot of a photographers' time. We put a lot of thought and creativity into each album to make them special. Putting together photos in an album isn't just lopping together a bunch of snapshots. It's creating a feeling at the turn of every page. One page of an album is like a canvas and your photos are the paint.

Please click the thumbnail to see and example of Robin's album layout.

Albums

When I started PMP I didn't even offer an album. Then I offered Coffee Table albums and matted wedding albums came later. Soon after that, the demand for flush mount albums came, so here you have it. I now have three main albums that I have posted on my website. I actually have a half dozen more, but this one is my fav!

Hightower Falls!

I booked another Hightower Falls wedding today. I made a beautiful flush mount metallic album for them last month and it seems so have gone over well with the brides and Hightower. I can't wait to get the opportunity to shoot there three more times so far this year!

Now Booking for 2011!

Whoo hoo for Mary and Cindy who booked their weddings with me! Mary is getting married at Hightower falls in June and Cindy is my first 2011 bride. She's getting married at the McGarity House in April next year. Way to plan ahead Cindy! I posted a photo of her at Robin's wedding last fall. What a gorgeous bride she will be!

What I got for Valentine's Day

For the last two years I photographed some of the most beautiful wedding rings I've ever seen with a naked finger. My old wedding ring lost a stone, broke another prong and eventually didn't even fit anymore. So I spent the last two years living with ring envy. Then, for Valentine's Day my hubby of almost 10 years gave me the best gift EVER! Yeah, he got a truck for my birthday, and a bulldog on my other birthday, a 4 wheeler, and a building, and every tool known to man... but this time, he got it right. XOXO

It's all about the snowman.

We did it! The perfect 7 foot tall snowman! I got out my camera, and the second I told my daughter not to lean on it...it toppled over. So rebuilding took place and another 7 footer was constructed. I had the girls stand next to it and told them not to get too close so it won't fall on them....and it fell on my 7 year old. So, the re-reconstruction commenced and we built the final 7 footer. This time we used careful engineering to make sure it wouldn't fall over, but I quickly took the pictures before any more accidents could happen. All in all, it was a wonderful snowman x 3 building day. Now we're toasting our toes by the fire and I'm off to a couple of appointments tonight. Happy snow day everyone!

Snow on Paris Mountain!

So, I had to cancel one appointment tonight seeing as I was pretty much snowed in! Lucky I have food storage, milk and bread. Maybe we can dig our way out in the morning. Naaaah! It's not that bad. Just a couple of inches, but we sure had some fun, even with the sacrifice of one camera lens. Tomorrow we aspire to build a 6 foot snowman!

Marketing & Research.

So I spent that last week in marketing and research. Sounds important right? Basically it means going to every wedding website and search tool to make sure my info is correct. And guess what I found?!? I did a Google search for Paris Mountain Photography in my area. My name came up, but when you clicked on it, it took me to Paris Mountain Contracting with a picture of a contractor guy and everything! What -WHAT! So I spent the last week getting that fixed and many other small errors fixed on Gathering Guide, City Search, Bing etc. So I fixed my profile and added some images (not of the contractor) so now I feel that when people find me, it’s ME!

I am working on a fix and there will be plenty of photos and blog posts to come!

Beth + Mike = Married!

Her shoes said it all! "I DO." Then again, when I walked into her bridal suite, she crossed her feet and giggled when it read "Do I." Baa hahahah. That's my kind of humor! :) And kudos to Beth's sister who put together so many of the super awesome details of her day... including her too cute shoes! Thanks for sharing your day with me!

Brooke's One Year Session

So I win worst Mommy of the year award yesterday. I decided to take Brooke to some of my favorite locations for her "one-year" photos the day after she got her booster shots. So, as expected, she cried through the entire thing. I bribed her with some crackers, but that just made her more unhappy when she didn't HAVE a cracker in her mouth, and added lots of post editing work, taking out the crumbs all over her mouth. I managed to snap a couple of shots when she was smiling as I took a cracker out of the bag. All in all, I think I got lots of nice, but serious shots of Brookie, and one or two glimpses at baby joy....for food.

New Puppy Pix!

The bulldogs are over 3 weeks old and they are spunky now! It was hard to keep them in one place to take the photos even. But with some help from the kids we wrangled the little suckers for a few quick shots. The pups are for sale and we've already have had interest from Maine, West Virginia, California and Mississippi. They'll be ready to go in about 3 weeks.

Amber and Preston are Engaged!

Amber and I met at Jen Scipioni's wedding last summer. She was a bridesmaid (on the right) and met me again at the Atlanta Weddings Bridal Party with Jen. I was so excited to see them and even more excited when Amber decided to book me for her July wedding at the Bona Allen Mansion in Buford. I can't wait to get started!

Where has the year gone!

Brooke turned ONE YEAR OLD today! She, of course, enjoyed some birthday cake and LOTS of toys with family. She has five teeth, loves balls, and "good girl" AKA Dooley (the bulldog and puppies). She is standing on her own and took a few steps the other day, but I think it was more like lunging and grabbing on to me for dear life. Brooke loves her veggies and banana sandwiches. And her favorite thing to do is pull Mommy's hair. We are so lucky to have Brooke in our family!

Hair and Makeup!

Yay for Ashley who booked her November wedding with me today. I am excited about Ashley for a couple of different reasons. First of all, we met two and a half years ago at the "Olde Towne Hiram day festival." I had a booth and I was just showing off some of my photos. Mind you, I had only started up Paris Mountain Photography one year before that, so I only had a few weddings under my belt. But it was good enough for Ashley, because when she got engaged recently to Johathan, she remembered me and booked! Whoo hooo!

Ok, reason #2. We got to talking and she has gone the extra mile in planning her wedding. I mean - she is dedicated. Why? She is taking pre-natal vitamins (noooo no no no no not for THAT!). She wants to have great hair and nails for her wedding, and nothing gives you AWESOME hair and nails than those vitamins! Believe me, I have three kids, I know.

So we started talking more about hair and makeup and I confessed to making the most irresponsible decision of my life! I wore "special wedding makeup" for my wedding day, and a sweet curlie-q hair do. Bleughth! I looked like a geisha hobby doll. Seriously! I even had a friend tell me I looked like a mail-order-bride. I admit...I did. My makeup was so "special" that it looked like I was wearing a white mask, and my hair was nothing like I imagined. But the kicker.... when I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked awesome! Hot even! Sighhhhh.

So, in leu of my conversation with Ashley, and my personal experience, here are my tips for wedding day hair and makeup.

#1. If possible get a professional do your hair and makeup. It really does make a difference!

#2. Do a trial run! You don't want to find out what looks good or doesn't look good on the day of your wedding.

#3. Take pictures! It might look good in the mirror, but a camera flash can really bring out that "special wedding day" glow. Some foundations shimmer and reflect in the camera. Try to avoid shimmery makeup on your wedding day.

#4. Please, please. You are the bride. Look like yourself. We want you to look super glam and ultra fabulous, but you also want to look like YOU!

The photo was taken in the ancient times of 35mm film. No digital in the stone ages.

Flashback!!!

Today marks the second anniversary of the most liberating event in my entire life.... wait for it.....On January 22, 2008, the bonds of Master Jail were broken, and like a beautiful white dove, I rose from the bat cave and drifted into the winter sky. Okay, am I going too far? How 'bout this. Two years ago today marks the second anniversary of leaving 9 years of employment at CNN. Yeah, I said it! CNN baby! I loved working there, but photography has always been my dream and I took that giant leap. Two years later, I'm prospering far and beyond my wildest CNN dreams. It was a good 9 years old friend, but I have a new love now. Farewell and don't be a stranger!

Kayla!

Let's see. I know Kayla because she was the wedding planner for Alison's wedding last fall, the florist for Ashley's wedding also last fall, a bridesmaid in Michelle's wedding this Summer, she works across the hall from Jana who I'm booking with next week, AND I ran into her at the Steakhouse down the street. I think that just about covers it, right? Kayla's MOL surprised her with a PMP maternity session gift certificate for Christmas! I can't wait to take the newborn photos!

The Kiss...

Kissing is an art. Really! Keep the slippery-slimy ones to yourself please. We want to see the tender, soft, sweet, loving ones. The ones you give when he just surprised you with flowers, or he got you a puppy. The kind you give to say, "I really REALLY love you!"

Not the WAH-WAH-WAH I haven't seen you in a week and I'm going to attack you and eat your face off ones. YUCK!

The - kiss you good night - strawberry eating - ice cream cone - marshmallow ones. Yeah, you know what I mean.

So, please keep those kisses sweet and soft.... and hold them for second or two so I can get a few shots. And remember to breathe through your nose! ; )

Bridal Show

Last night was AWESOME! I had so much fun meeting with all of the brides at the Atlanta Weddings bridal show at the Georgian Terrace in Atlanta. There were a ton of gorgeous girls who came to my booth to chat and check out all of my fabulous albums. Congrats to Lee and David who won the Free Engagement session giveaway. I can't wait to work with them! My friend and sometimes second shooter, Jarett, came with and she was oh so fabulous. She rocked the crowd and really tag teamed with me so we could get all the info out. I even had one of my former brides from last June, Jen, come visit my booth with her friend who is getting married this year. Whooo hooo! Thanks so much for everyone who came out!

Last wedding of 2009

I surely ended the year with a BANG! Sarah and Jacob's wedding was BY FAR the BEST wedding/reception I think I've ever shot. Why you ask?!? Two reasons really.

#1 Sarah, like most brides, was on a budget, but she did not skimp on the details. Most of the awesome details in her reception were done by hand, by herself and her friends. She rallied other friends and family to help with all of the food and decorating, and her reception had the BEST details of any I've ever shot. I can't even go into everything because there were just so many. People surely walked away from her reception talking about it on the way home...I know I was!

#2 Sara had sooooo many great photos of her bridal party and of her and her new husband because she made it a priority when we put together her timeline. We spend about 1/2 hour at the ceremony site and an entire hour at the reception site. It was PERFECT. I've only had 2 other brides set this kind of time aside for photos, and of course, their portraits were the BEST!

I am so happy I got to end the year with such an awesome wedding like this one....not to mention I go to church with the family, so it's kinda personal too! ;) Thanks Sarah!

Year in review!

Can I say it?!? This year went by sooo quickly! So, when I went through all of my albums from the year, I was surprised to see some of my favorite photos. Especially from Spring. I guess it has all been a blur for me with the new baby. So, since it's been such a long time since I've looked through my photos, I figured it would be a great time to post some of my favs from the past year. Enjoy!
